Abu Dhabi Corniche Underpasses
Abu Dhabi Corniche Underpasses
The project called for the construction of approximately 2,500 linear meters of diaphragm walling stretching for over 1 kilometer on each side of these underpasses, requiring the construction of an underground tunnel for vehicle and pedestrian crossing with a minimum clearance of 3.5 height, 9m width, and 70m long including necessary ventilation shafts; and the dewatering and excavation of around 700,000 cubic meters of soil at a total depth of 15m below working platform level. The underpasses take traffic beneath what was previously a busy roads junction at the corniche in Abu Dhabi.
One of these three large wall murals brought traditional desert village life into the city. Another was allocated the theme of the country’s arts and crafts and a third the rich under water life of the region.
All work here used high quality standard Florim tiles as a base. Artists at Craig Bragdy applied the designs by hand to the large wall mural using many techniques including airbrushing, stenciling, hand brushing, layering etc. before the colors were fired on to create a permanent finish for the work.
Lever Supplied the hand painted tiles for all the walls coverings.
